App disappears and won’t come back

Even with all the free voice recorders there, bought this for a conference that was too important to leave to free apps. Got it. Tested it a few times. Then on the day of the conference opened the app. Had to open something else (like check my email) when I came back to the recorder it was gone. No dot by the app’s icon in the dock. Tried to restart the app or get it to appear by clicking the icon in the doc but no go. Tried to see if it was listed in the Force Quit menu and it wasn’t. Rebooted my mac and restarted the app. Same story. Feel very cheated.
